extensive experience in both the delivery of high quality
academic instruction and provision of treatment services to
special needs students.

Brad
Freed, Executive Director, Red Hill Academy
Brad Freed comes to Red Hill Academy with over 20
years of experience helping children cope with emotional
problems. Currently he serves as Executive Director
for Red Hill Academy and Clinical Director for Sunny
Hills Services. He has held a number of administrative
and executive management positions with Sunny Hills
since joining as a residential youth counselor in 1990.
Before he came to Sunny Hills, he developed and managed
an innovative, school-based day treatment program at
a Bay Area public high school. Freed is a Licensed Marriage
& Family Therapist and holds a Master's degree in
clinical psychology from San Francisco State University.

Jodie
Mathison, Marketing Director, Red Hill Academy
Jodie Mathison has served as Principal of the James
R. Sylla School at Sunny Hills for the past two
years, focusing on high-quality academics and the development
of interactive enrichment programs. Mathison's work
implementing innovative academic programs spans the
globe. Her experience includes structuring curriculum
for exploited children in Zimbabwe, teaching at a public
school in Iowa, and crafting special education programs
in California as an educator and principal. She has
also served on the board of the California Association
of Private Special Education Schools (CAPSES). Mathison
earned her Bachelor's degree from Central College in
Pella, Iowa, and holds an administrative credential
and Master's degree from Holy Names University.

Robin
Hughes, Admissions Director, Red Hill Academy
Robin Hughes has worked with emotionally troubled
and academically challenged children at Sunny
Hills Services for the last nineteen years. During
her tenure at Sunny Hills, Hughes provided direct care
services as a counselor, teacher's aide and residential
supervisor. She currently serves as Residential Program
Director for Sunny Hills Services and After School Supervisor
for Red Hill Academy. Hughes comes to Red Hill Academy
with extensive experience in client care, admissions,
program management, and therapeutic recreation. A graduate
of Richard Stockton College in New Jersey, Hughes earned
Bachelor's degrees in psychology and biology.

Cara
Chambers, Academic Head, Red Hill Academy
Cara Chambers has been an integral member of the James
R. Sylla non-public school for the past seven years.
She began her tenure with Sunny Hills Services as a
teacher's aide in 2001 and has been a special education
teacher since 2003. Chambers earned her Bachelor's degree
from the University of Florida, and comes to Red Hill
Academy with a dual special education credential in
mild/moderate and moderate/severe disabilities. Chambers
earned a Master's degree in special education from the
University of Oregon, ranked third in the nation for
its special education program.

Laura
Taylor, After School Program Director, Red Hill
Academy
Laura Taylor has worked with special needs youth for
the past 25 years. A graduate of California
State University at Northridge, Taylor earned a
Bachelor's degree in Child Development with a minor
in Mental Health. She began her career in Southern California
serving youth with emotional difficulties in a variety
of school and residential settings. In 1995, Taylor
re-located to the San Francisco Bay Area where she continued
to help students build valuable life skills through
athletics, therapeutic recreation, vocational experiences,
community involvement, and group counseling. An experienced
youth counselor and residential program supervisor,
Taylor comes to Red Hill Academy with relevant expertise
in adolescent development and the provision of services
designed to promote improved self-esteem and enhanced
personal and interpersonal functioning. .
