Our residential students live in four comfortable on-campus
cottages. Recently renovated, each cottage features bedrooms
(six singles and three doubles), study areas, living rooms,
full kitchens and dining areas. Each cottage is staffed around
the clock by an experienced team of youth counselors who provide
structure, support and guidance in the context of a rewarding,
harmonious, and productive group living experience. The typical
ratio of staff members to students in the residential setting
is 1:6. The individualized care available to all students
in residence promotes age-appropriate independent living skills,
the development of organizational skills, and the internalization
of study habits necessary for academic success.
Positive Peer Influence Model
The residential program is grounded in a positive peer influence
model and assists students in increasing their capacity for
adaptive functioning within the context of a well-articulated
level system. The level system and its associated privileges
and responsibilities incorporates age and maturity considerations
as well as various program components designed to support
improved executive functioning.
Some students may reside at RHA Monday through Thursday and
spend weekends at home. Full time residents will enjoy varied
activities that will take full advantage of the numerous recreational
and cultural resources that characterize the greater San Francisco
Bay Area.
